The Outlaws at the GlobalFoundries luncheon

On Thursday, November 13th, two of our mentors and three of our student members made the trek up to Essex to visit GlobalFoundries for a Lunch and Learn.

When we arrived, we were excited to see many FIRST robotics teams, tech CEO’s, and Vermont cabinet members. We were able to set up our robot in an area alongside South Burlington’s Batteries Not Included FRC team.

Quickly though, it was time for lunch where we sat among people and ate a delicious turkey dinner provided by GlobalFoundries. During lunch, we got to listen to a presentation on robotics and FIRST in Vermont. Teams were then invited to share stories about how FIRST’s core values are shown in their teams and one of our student members, Eli, talked about teamwork in The Outlaws and how we had to come together to make our robot in such a short amount of time.

After lunch, we had the chance to tell people about our team and robot. We let people drive and answered questions. In this time, we got to meet the lieutenant governor of Vermont, John S. Rodgers, and so many other cool and influential people.

Sharing with the public

This was such a great opportunity to meet other teams and make connections with tech people around Vermont. It was also a great learning experience to be able to talk to so many people and improve our outreach skills. Events like these are so educational and fun to attend. We are so grateful to have been invited!
